Moyer Elected to ESOP Association’s Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. (May 2) – Lonnie Pepper-Moyer, Monroe News, Monroe, MI, been elected to fill a two-year, at-large slot representing a corporate member for the Board of Directors of The ESOP Association. The ESOP Association is the national association that represents companies with employee stock ownership plans.

Active at both the chapter and national levels of The ESOP Association, Ms. Peppler-Moyer led a strong advocacy effort among members of the Michigan Chapter of The ESOP Association in urging Congress against making changes to ESOP and retirement law, amid the 2002 collapse of Enron Corporation.

Ms. Peppler-Moyer is the President and Publisher of The Monroe Publishing Company, which produces The Monroe Evening News, a 25,000 circulation daily newspaper in Monroe, Michigan. Lonnie’s previous roles in the company included Sales and Marketing Director and General Manager. Prior to joining Monroe Publishing in 1995, Lonnie was publisher of daily newspapers in Meadville and Kittanning, Pennsylvania. The Monroe Publishing Company became 100% employee-owned on December 15, 1999.

The Board of Directors is the premier governing group in the Association. Seven members of the nine person Board of Directors are elected by the Association’s Board of Governors.
