Honored to be 2009 Chapter of the Year
Welcome to the webpages of the California/Western States Chapter. Our chapter includes all members of The ESOP Association in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Utah - over 350 ESOP companies and professional service providers.
Our mission: to help our ESOP companies excel by providing our members with educational and information-sharing opportunities. Here's how we do that:
RESOURCES
Handouts from the 2011 CAWS Chapter Conference educational sessions, materials from previous seminars, and other useful downloads.
Annual Chapter Conference - the backbone of our chapter. The 2012 CAWS Chapter Conference will be held on October 3 - 5 at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The registration brochure with complete details about the sessions, speakers, and other activities may be downloaded from Events in July, 2012.
Retreat for Senior Managers. Scheduled for Monday, June 11 in San Francisco, this one-day meeting will include roundtable discussions and presentations on topics requested by senior managers of ESOP companies. Registration materials will be available in March. Registration is limited to 40.
NEW in 2012: Fiduciary Issues Workshop: The CAWS Program Committee is planning a workshop focused on fiduciary issues for internal trustees. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 in San Francisco, details on the workshop topics and registration materials will be available in March.
Spring Seminars: The CAWS Chapter’s Spring Seminars: Troubleshoot, Reboot or Refresh Your ESOP, have been scheduled for seven locations throughout the chapter from March 26 – April 3. Whether you are new to ESOPs or have a burning operational issue or just want a refresher course in how ESOPs really work, these seminars are for you! CLICK HERE for the brochure that contains the details on dates and locations. We thank our generous chapter members who are hosting the workshops in Colorado, San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.
Chapter Newsletters give you the information you need to know to get the most out of your ESOP. Company Profiles show you how your colleagues promote and manage their ESOP. Technical articles from professional service providers highlight "best practices" and help keep you in compliance. Distributed by email in .pdf format, you are encouraged to share the newsletters with all of your employee owners, clients and colleagues.

CHAPTER AWARDS PROGRAM
The Chapter Awards Program is another way ESOP companies share "best practices" and innovative ideas with each other. Companies of all sizes are encouraged to submit nominations. Award categories include Employee Owner of the Year, ESOP Company of the Year, Best ESOP Event, and Most Effective ESOP Committee. Another category is Communication Excellence, highlighting exemplary company websites, DVDs, employee manuals, newsletters and other vehicles for communicating the full value of the ESOP to employee-owners and to the general community.
Winners are recognized at the Chapter Conference and the Employee Owner of the Year and ESOP Company of the Year become the chapter's nominees in the national competition. Nomination forms, sent to all Corporate members of the chapter in March, are due in May of each year.
